The Adventures of the Black Girl in Her Search for God

Playwright Lisa Codrington has created a brilliant and funny adaptation of a short story by GBS. He even appears in it! (Guy Bannerman takes the part.)

Set designer Camellia Koo has done a wonderful job as always, using the book as a device to support the black girl.  Pages turn and are torn and the actors literally chew up the scenery!

Natasha Mumba carries the production as the Black Girl, with great support from Tara Rosling as the White Missionary and the Mathematician, Ben Sanders as Micah the Morasthite, King Solomon and the Physicist, Keira Sangster as Black Mamba Snake , Andre Sills as Black Bearer, Graeme Somervile as the Almighty, Biologist and the Artist and Jonathan Tan as the Conjuror

Ths play was written to be part of the lunch hour series, so it is short and snappy and such a lot of fun. We even enjoyed the joke about the Straford Festival. (Shaw is a dead white writer who has a festival named after him, while the other dead white writer just gets perfomed at the Stratford Festival! )
