Best of the Year

We saw 39 plays this year, a low number compared to other years, but being sick for several months did interfere! I looked back at the reviews to see what we did see, and what kinds of memories they brought back. As usual, there were many great productions and very few really bad ones. Stratford and Shaw had the lead both in terms of sheer numbers of plays and the quality of the productions.

I tried to make a list of the best.

King Lear at Stratford was great. The Philanderer at Shaw was great. Cabaret and Crazy for You. Big theatres, big drama, big budgets, big musicals. Equivocation was fun for a bardophile. Coriolanus from NTL was excellent on the c=screen.

But you literally cannot compare them, so I won’t. Just keep going to the theatre. you never know what will happen and that is the best part!
