In Winnipeg for the weekend, I had a chance to see the Manitoba Theatre Centre production of this play by Katie Forgette.
The plot was familiar to anyone who reads Conan Doyle or watches any of the new series starring the famous detective. Unfortunately, familiarity meant few surprises. I found the play boring and the cast merely adequate. Whether this is the actors fault or the writers or the directors is hard to tell. The play brings together Sherlock Holmes with Oscar Wilde and Lily Langtry. It should be witty, but somehow it was not. No one worth mentioning.
