Man of La Mancha

I had never seen this musical before, and I plan never to see it again. I just do not think it is a great musical.

But, if you are going to see it, this year/s production at the Stratford Festival is the one to see. A fantastic cast, headed by Tom Rooney as Don Quixote with great support from Robin Hutton as
Eldonza and Steve Ross as Sancho Panza. The singing and acting were all excellent.

The sets and lighting made you think you were seeing a series of Renaissance paintings. It was gorgeous and clearly, most of the audience loved it. I found it odd that I liked all the parts, but not the whole! If you like this musical, (and the one song, The Impossible Dream, is really a great one) then you must see this production. And if you have never seen it before, this is the production to see. I cannot imagine it getting any better.

A great song in search of a show.
    Good cast and production, though.
