Candida

Nice production, good cast , nothing noteworthy.
I am not sure why we decided to to see it again so soon after the Kelly Fox version in 2002. You would think that nearly ten years was enough of a gap, but clearly not!
Claire Julien, Nigel Shawn Williams, Norman Browning and Graeme Somerville are all actors i like. Wade
Bogert O’Brien is definitely some one to watch. But the group did not coalesce and the play fellll flat.

One Response to Candida

The play is really all about Candida's final declaration and that comes off well, as does really all of the last act; however, before the intermission everyone seemed to be standing around shouting. I thought Nigel Shawn Williams was very good, I could believe in his character's charisma and of course you'd do anything Claire Jullien wants. the other actors I did not particularly notice.Maybe On the Rocks will rescue my Shavian theatre this year – although that's putting a big burden on a slight thing.
